You can of course note it used as “ellipsis of Republic of Cyprus”, to mean the state construct governing a part, but equally it can be “ellipsis of Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus” (why not created as of 2021?). Although surely in EU participation it is the former. I come here because it respects no diachronicity, or for adding translations for the thing, whatever it be; in antiquity there were many kingdoms. undo
