[edit]With the accusative case аб primarily denotes physical contact, collision, or interaction:
- біць аб сцяну
- bicʹ ab scjanu
- to beat against a wall
With the locative case аб denotes the object of thought, speech, or feeling:
- чуць аб кім-чым
- čucʹ ab kim-čym
- to hear about someone/something
Additionally, аб + accusative case is used colloquially to indicate a time frame within which an action is completed:
- вярнуцца аб дзень
- vjarnucca ab dzjenʹ
- to return within a day
