Moksha

Etymology

Cognate with Erzya кортамс (kortams), both Mordvinic terms having the meaning “to speak/talk, convince” (in Moksha also “to testify”). According to Veršinin, ultimately of onomatopoeic origin, possible cognates include Mari, Finnish kertoa (to tell).[1]
