عَرَب (ʕarabf or m pl (collective, singulative عَرَبِيّ m (ʕarabiyy), plural عُرُوب (ʕurūb) or أَعْرُب (ʔaʕrub) or عُرْبَان (ʕurbān), paucal عَرَب (ʕarab))

  1. Arabs, true Arabs
  2. bedouins

Usage notes

According to Lane's Arabic Lexicon (entry عرب, book I, p. 2045), عَرَب (ʕarab) is of the feminine gender. Modern usage appears to allow both feminine and masculine plural, e.g. the Wikipedia entry has الْعَرَب الْبَاقِيَة الَّذِين (al-ʿarab al-bāqiya allaḏīn ..., the remaining Arabs who ...) with بَاقِيَة (bāqiya, remaining) feminine singular but الَّذِين (allaḏīn, who) masculine plural.
