[edit]Inherited from Middle Hindi پیار (pyar) (c. 1611),[1] Sauraseni Prakrit 𑀧𑀺𑀆𑀭 (piāra), from Sanskrit प्रियकार (priyakāra), compound of प्रिय (priyá) + कार (kāra).[2]
