Borrowed from Classical Persian گرم (garm), from Proto-Iranian *garmáh, from Proto-Indo-Iranian *gʰarmás, from Proto-Indo-European *gʷʰor-mó-s, from *gʷʰer-.

Doublet of घाम (ghām). Compare Gujarati ગરમ (garam), Hindi गर्म (garm), Punjabi ਗਰਮ (garam) / گَرم (garm), Bengali গরম (gorom), Assamese গৰম (gorom).
