Etymology

Inherited from Old Hindi पिरोहना (pirohanā), probably from Sanskrit परिवयति (parivayati, to interweave), ultimately from the root वे (ve). Alternatively, the Old Hindi term may be from Sanskrit *परिवभति (parivabhati, to weave round), from the root उभ् (ubh).
