[edit]From Proto-Tai *kiːꟲ (“how many; several”), from Middle Chinese 幾 (MC kj+jX). Cognate with Northern Thai ᨠᩦ᩵, Lü ᦂᦲᧈ (k̇ii¹), Khün ᨠᩦ᩵, Tai Nüa ᥐᥤᥱ (kǐ), Ahom 𑜀𑜣 (kī).
