: the fundōzakura
Compound of 分銅 (fundō, “weight for a scale”) + 桜 (sakura, “cherry blossom”). The sakura changes to zakura as an instance of rendaku (連濁).
分銅桜 (shinjitai kanji, kyūjitai kanji 分銅櫻, hiragana ふんどうざくら, rōmaji fundōzakura)
- a 家紋 (kamon, “family crest”) in the shape of a 桜 (sakura, “cherry blossom”), with each petal depicted using the shape of a 分銅 (fundō, “weight for a scale”)
