Stating that the etymology is uncertain, and moving etymologies together 1. the alleged connection to the word for beech, whether by beechbark-writing or bookfells (as until I just removed it was claimed on book). 2. the derivation of *bʰeh₂g-|t=to allot mentioned at Talk:book#Etymology 1 | What would a “book” be in that time though? The gloss “book” is something misleading. For starters, paper did not exist yet.
