Etymology
From the Hanyu Pinyin romanization of the Mandarin 龍港/龙港 (Lónggǎng, “Dragon Port”).
- Of the city in Zhejiang: a blend of its former name Longjiang Port Area (龍江港區/龙江港区 (Lóngjiāng gǎngqū)) adopted upon its elevation to town status in 1983. The name Longjiang itself derived from the "Qinglong River" (青龍江/青龙江), used locally for the lower Ao (鰲江/鳌江).
