  1. (transitive, intransitive) to set (to arrange the table with dishes and cutlery)
  2. (transitive) spread, spread out, lay out (onto something: -ra/-re)

  3. (transitive, business) to distribute

  4. (intransitive, card games) to lay (out/down), put (down) one's cards on the table (usually as a sign of having won the game)
