Borrowed from Urdu اُرْدُو (urdū), with influence from Classical Persian اُردُو (urdū), from Proto-Turkic *ordu (army, camp) ( > Azerbaijani ordu, Turkish ordu, Turkmen oorda). Doublet of horde.
