From Latin Ītalia (Italy), from Ancient Greek Ῑ̓ταλίᾱ (Ītalíā), from Oscan 𐌅𐌝𐌕𐌄𐌋𐌉𐌞 (Víteliú) (a name for the southwestern tip of the boot of Italy).
