- Keep -oic acid as a translation hub. Also, if we delete it, then methanoic acid can only be analyzed as methanoic + acid. But, the first is defined as "of or pertaining to methanoic acid", so methanoic acid becomes "acid that is of methanoic acid", which seems both pleonastic and recursive.
Abstain on -dronic acid.__Gamren (talk) 01:54, 27 December 2020 (UTC) - Delete, not suffixes; we shouldn't keep something that's plainly wrong, no matter how "convenient" it may be. And if deleting -oic acid makes the definition of methanoic circular, the solution is obviously to fix that entry 🤔 PUC – 16:27, 27 December 2020 (UTC)
- I challenge anyone to define methanoic without reference to methanoic acid. It's obviously a backformation. Also, translation hubs are a well-established practice and provide a good service to foreign-language learners.__Gamren (talk) 01:19, 28 December 2020 (UTC)

- Delete all, per SemperBlotto. --Robbie SWE (talk) 12:22, 28 December 2020 (UTC)
- I'm leaning heavily towards delete for both. Although -oic is a genuine suffix, used in methanoic, -dronic is not, being part of a more complex compound. DonnanZ (talk) 12:54, 28 December 2020 (UTC)

←₰-→Lingo Bingo Dingo (talk) 12:00, 29 December 2020 (UTC) - Comment: The translation hub rule is sufficient for a keep, unless we have an alternative analysis wherein translations can be hosted. What are alternative analyses? For German -säure it is just compounds with Säure, for which alleged suffix I voted delete therefore, and this way it goes in German we have to note in translation sections, as we do not have to translate with identical parts of speech, as for example intercalary translates with compounds with leading Schalt- in German. Pages like propanoic acid do not have etymology sections so far where acceptable alternative analyses are presented. Fay Freak (talk) 14:37, 30 December 2020 (UTC)
- Delete. In the first case, the suffix is apparently -oic, which is followed by the separate word acid; in the second case, it's not obvious that -dronic is a morpheme, and certainly acid is, again, a separate word. In some cases it may be that the first word of the acid's name is not attested outside of that phrase, and should only exist as an
