"a machine, connection or service that provides such a means"...? I'm not convinced. "My laptop / their server is an Internet access"? Equinox 00:14, 2 April 2013 (UTC)Reply

I would consider a machine at an Internet café that has Internet a form of Internet access yes. —CodeCat 00:20, 2 April 2013 (UTC)Reply
But you wouldn't say "this machine is Internet access", would you? So it's not a definition of that. Equinox 00:21, 2 April 2013 (UTC)Reply
I would say that my desktop is my Internet access. How does that work, then? —CodeCat 00:24, 2 April 2013 (UTC)Reply
I could say that my job is my source of income, but that doesn't mean that "source of income" means "job". It's metonymy or some other -nymy! Equinox 00:35, 2 April 2013 (UTC)Reply

Internet access

[edit]

Access to the Internet. Comparable to "bulletin board access", "computer access", "car-park access", pretty much any access. Second sense (machine used to connect) is metonymy or something, not a true definition for this term. Equinox 15:28, 2 April 2013 (UTC)Reply

Keep for idiomatic translations. —CodeCat 15:59, 2 April 2013 (UTC)Reply
Are there any? Mglovesfun (talk) 17:23, 2 April 2013 (UTC)Reply
If not, feel free to RFD the translations that are currently listed. —CodeCat 00:38, 3 April 2013 (UTC)Reply
That doesn't answer my question, currently all the translations are unidiomatic single words, but we keep unidiomatic single words. Mglovesfun (talk) 09:10, 3 April 2013 (UTC)Reply

I only suggested to have it as a "non-idiomatic translation target" as per the discussion above, so that "I need Internet access" (if it's considered an important phrase) could be added to a translation appendix, when we have enough translations. --Anatoli (обсудить/вклад) 22:19, 2 April 2013 (UTC)Reply
