Also for cock (penis) in Internet slang, e.g. "he likes the cawk" = he is gay. Perhaps mimicking some sort of stereotypical accent. Equinox 23:35, 9 June 2017 (UTC)Reply

like dawg and Gawd, i guess. a distinction wholly inaudible to me since i have the cot-caught merger. until well into adulthood i just assumed these alternate spellings were like night ~ nite. Soap 16:44, 13 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
Since dog is /dɔɡ/ in most varieties of North American English that distinguish cot and caught, dawg actually is eye dialect (a deliberate misspelling that does not reflect a nonstandard pronunciation). Gawd does imply a different pronunciation those varieties; I've always assumed it was euphemistic, like gad. —Mahāgaja · talk 20:35, 14 May 2024 (UTC)Reply

English. unusual: 2 same POS headers. Probly needs separate etyms. Cheers, --178.148.202.107 16:39, 14 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
