[...] Any of various mostly Mexican herbs of the genus Cosmos having radiate heads of variously coloured flowers and pinnate leaves. [...] The American astronomer Carl Sagan, who co-wrote and narrated the award-winning television documentary Cosmos: A Personal Voyage (1980–1981) and authored its companion book Cosmos (1980), was born on this day 90 years ago in 1934.
