[edit]Interjection
[edit]hatdog (Baybayin spelling ᜑᜆ᜔ᜇᜓᜄ᜔)
- a nonsensical response to a question, specially the interjection ha?
Usage notes
[edit]- This can be used when the speaker does not want to answer the question.
- The response can be replaced by any words that start with ha, more popularly, halaman (“plant”) as a replacement.
- A method for other question words, such as saan (“where”), would be to find a word that has a similar first syllable of the question word, such as sandok (“ladle”), or using ano (“what”), in areas where the surname or place Anonas is known e.g.
- Saan? sandok!
- Ano? Anonas!
- This may be considered dated.
