From the bound morpheme hi- (he-, male) +‎ jip (sheep) (lit. "he-sheep", cf. he-goat (she-goat), he-wolf (she-wolf); from a respelling of (deprecated template usage) [etyl] English he- (hi-) and sheep (jip))
