Inherited from Ottoman Turkish معجون (maʼcun, paste; putty), itself from Arabic مَعْجُون (maʕjūn, paste; putty).

Noun[edit]

macun (definite accusative macunu, plural macunlar)

  1. (in general) paste, any soft and moist mixture of several ingredients incorporated together
  2. putty, a form of cement made from linseed oil and whiting used in domestic construction and repair
  3. kind of semi-solid, sticky burnt sugar used for waxing
    Synonym: ağda
  4. drug made from filtered opium-gum that former addicts swallowed
