Etymology[edit]

From Byzantine Greek μηνολόγιον (mēnológion), from Ancient Greek μήν (mḗn, month) + -ο- (-o-, -o-) + λόγιον (lógion, writing, record, announcement), from λόγος (lógos, writing, recording) + -ιον (-ion, -ion: forming related nouns). Equivalent to meno- +‎ logion or menology +‎ -ion. Doublet of menologe, menologium, and menology. See horologion.
