[edit]From Proto-Finnic *murëh (compare Estonian mure, Livonian mur), possibly derived from the onomatopoeic root *mur- also found in murista. The form murhe in particular is a Western Finnish dialectal form derived via metathesis (compare venhe, urho, perhe).
