Verb
otul
Volapük
Etymology
From the bound morpheme ot- (“October”, which was later superseded in New Volapük by the bound morpheme tob- “October”) + -ul (“month”), a bound morpheme (functioning as a suffix) derived from the free morpheme mul (“month”), from either (deprecated template usage) [etyl] English October or (deprecated template usage) [etyl] German Oktober, but ultimately from (deprecated template usage) [etyl] Latin octōber (“In the ancient Roman calendar, the year originally began with mārtius (“March”), and octōber was thus the eighth month (not today’s tenth month) of the year, from octō “eight” + -ber, from -bris, an adjectival suffix; cf. Latin september, from *septemo-mēmbris, from septem (“seven”) + *mēnsris from mēns- (“< mēnsis, month”) + -ris (“of or pertaining to the seventh month”)”)
