から (romaji kara)

1. from, out of
   • 東京から帰った。

     とうきょうからかえった。

     Tōkyō kara kaetta.

     He returned from Tokyo.

   • ずっと前からの話

     ずっとまえからのはなし

     zutto mae kara no hanashi

     a conversation from way back

2. after (following て-form verbs)
   • 終わってから、来て下さい。

     おわってから、きてください。

     Owatte kara, kite kudasai.

     Please come by after finishing [after you've finished].

3. because (following adjectives and verbs)
   • 肉を食べないから、拉麺は駄目だ。

     にくをたべないから、ラーメンはだめだ。

     Niku o tabenai kara, rāmen wa dame da.

     Because he doesn't eat meat, ramen is bad [a bad idea].

   • 私がいるから心配ないでしょ？

     わたしがいるからしんぱいないでしょ？

     "Watashi ga iru kara shinpai nai desho?"

     "Because I'm here, there's no need to worry, right?"
