duka la vitabu[edit]

Swahili: bookstore. Not a set phrase; literally means "shop of books" or "shop that has books". —Μετάknowledgediscuss/deeds 17:14, 29 July 2013 (UTC)Reply

duka la vitabu[edit]

I'm nominating this one again in hopes that more people will comment. It is the Swahili for bookstore, and is not idiomatic IMO; it literally means "shop of books" or "shop that has books". —Μετάknowledgediscuss/deeds 04:34, 8 February 2014 (UTC)Reply

Delete. It's like Russian книжный магазин (knižnyj magazin), which I also think should be deleted (I remember it being nominated before, but there is nothing on its talkpage). Of course, the English book store is unfortunately protected by WT:COALMINE. --WikiTiki89 04:42, 8 February 2014 (UTC)Reply
Delete per my comments here: "We don't keep SOP terms [in other languages] just because they translate into non-SOP things in English." - -sche (discuss) 06:27, 8 February 2014 (UTC)Reply
Delete. List translation as sw. — Ungoliant (falai) 13:39, 8 February 2014 (UTC)Reply
Keep per Dan Polansky. In addition, it is a construction that an English-speaker probably would not be able to deduce, and the plural form makes it even more complex. In Swahili, noun-class accord has a much larger footprint than gender accord does in European languages. —Stephen (Talk) 04:56, 19 February 2014 (UTC)Reply

Kept as no consensus. --Anatoli (обсудить/вклад) 23:00, 18 March 2014 (UTC)Reply
