From Byzantine Greek ἱκανοποιῶ (hikanopoiô), from marginal Koine Greek ἱκανοποιέω (hikanopoiéō, to make satisfaction), consisting of ἱκανός (hikanós, sufficient, enough) + ποιέω (poiéō, to make), formed as a calque of Latin satisfacio.
