Usage notes[edit]
  • The usage of the words негр (negr) or негритя́нка (negritjánka) in Russian is generally considered proper and not pejorative/derogative.
  • Until recently, this word was considered neutral in the Russian usage and preferred over чёрный (čórnyj, black) and its derivatives.
  • Due to recent Western influence, some people now avoid the term.
