Cognates include Armenian շուն (šun, “dog”), German Hund (“dog”), Ancient Greek κύων (kúōn, “dog”), Irish cú (“dog”), Latin canis (“dog”), Persian سگ (“dog”), Sanskrit श्वन् (śvan, “dog”).
