From Old Marathi पुसणे (pusaṇe), Sanskrit स्पृशति (spṛśati, to touch).


पुसणे (pusṇe) (transitive)

  1. to wipe, cleanse by rubbing
    दुकानात फरशी रोज पुसायला पाहिजे.
    dukānāt pharśī roj pusāyalā pāhije.
    The store's floor should be wiped every day.
    (literally, “In the store the floor should be wiped every day.”)
  2. to wipe out, obliterate, destroy, efface
    Synonym: पुसून टाकणे (pusūn ṭākṇe)

From Old Marathi पुसणे (pusaṇe), from Maharastri Prakrit 𑀧𑀼𑀘𑁆𑀙𑀇 (pucchaï), from Sanskrit पृच्छति (pṛcchati).

  1. (literary, dated) to ask (especially about a person's health and welfare)
    त्याला कोणी पुसत नाही.
    tyālā koṇī pusat nāhī.
    Nobody asks him.
