Etymology 1

Borrowed from Proto-Mon-Khmer *tkɔɔʔ ~ *tkɔɔh (“island”). Cognate with Mon တကံ (tkɔˀ), Khmer កោះ (kɑh), Chong kɑʔ, Nyah Kur เกาะ, Lao ເກາະ (kǫ), Vietnamese gò and Mal kɔʔ.
