Etymology 1

First attested in the Worin cheon'gangjigok (月印千江之曲 / 월인천강지곡), 1449, as Middle Korean 디시 (Yale: tisi).

The dependent noun 듯이 (deusi) is used along with adjectival suffixes (n, “n”), (l, “l”) and (neun).

The suffix 듯이 (deusi) is directly appended to the stem of a verb, an adjective, or 이다 (ida, “to be”), and if the stem ends in the consonant (l, “l”), it does not drop out.
