I'm thirsty
( usually ) I need something to drink (e.g., water ).
( more generally ) I need something, or want something a lot.
( euphemistic ) I want an alcoholic beverage .
( slang ) Being too eager for something; desperate. Usually in reference to attention or sexual needs.
Although this normally implies that you would like something to drink, it can be used in a more general sense to imply that you need or really want anything very important , as in "I am thirsty for money". Using "I am thirsty for a drink " is redundant (tautological ) unless "drink" is being used to mean "alcoholic drink".
