Etymology 2
[edit]Mostly originally an ethnic descriptor (i.e. from “Denmark”, see etymology 1), insofar as it derives from soldier names. A secondary origin may also be an old Danish word for "Danziger" (someone from Danzig, modern Gdańsk).[2]
