[edit]Etymology
[edit]Folklore says that an old man was living in present-day Poblacion. The man cultivated various crops, among them was a saligo (“a shrub which bore medicinal fruits but poisonous when taken excessively”). People across the region learned about the plant and wanted its fruit. Others discovered that once powdered and applied/mixed with river water, it makes the fishes dizzy, making fishing easy. This method of fishing, later referred to as "tuva", became popular, prompting the old man to plant more saligo plants.
From them on, people started calling his place "Tuva", later changed to "Tuba".
