Etymology

Attested in local Latin documents since the 12th century (albergaría since the 11th century). From Old Galician and Old Galician-Portuguese albergue, perhaps from Old Occitan albergue, from Gothic *𐌷𐌰𐍂𐌹𐌱𐌰𐌹𐍂𐌲𐍉 (*haribairgō).
