[edit]Borrowed from Hiligaynon batsoy, from Hokkien, either 肉碎 (bah-chhùi, “minced meat”, literally “meat pieces”) or 肉水 (bah-chúi, literally “meat water”). See also chop suey, Hokkien 肉脞麵/肉脞面 (bah-chhò-mī).
