Usage notes

• Used differently from saber. Conèixer has a meaning closer to "be familiar/acquainted with", while saber is closer to "know facts or information".
• In its distinction with saber, equivalent to Spanish conocer, French connaître, Portuguese conhecer, Italian conoscere, Romanian cunoaște. The equivalents of saber in those languages are Spanish saber, French savoir, Portuguese saber, Italian sapere, Romanian ști.
