kapmak
Appearance
Turkish
[edit]Etymology
[edit]From Proto-Turkic *kap- (“to snatch, take; to bite”).[1] Cognate with Old Turkic [script needed] (kap-, “to close, contact, catch”).[2] Also compare Proto-Indo-European *kap- (“to seize, grab”); the similarity may reflect an onomatopoeic origin of both stems.[2]
