  1. A verbal prefix with the following meanings:
    1. (original meaning, now rare) back, backwards
      fordul ‎(to turn) → megfordul ‎(to turn around, to turn back)
    2. It adds a perfective aspect to the verb in all tenses.
      talál ‎(to find) → megtalál ‎(to find (after searching))
    3. It expresses the beginning of an action.
      szeret ‎(to love) → megszeret ‎(to become attached to, to become fond of)
    4. It sometimes changes the meaning of the verb.
      szól ‎(to say something) → megszól ‎(to backtalk)
