- a. 1382, John Wycliffe, “Ephesians 4:28”, in Wycliffe's Bible[1]:
- He that stal, now stele he not; but more trauele he in worchinge with hise hondis that that is good, that he haue whereof he schal yyue to nedi.
- One who steals must not steal now, but must instead toil in labour with their hands for that which is good, so they have stuff to give to the needy.
