From (deprecated template usage) [etyl] Middle French tendrillon (bud, shoot, cartilage), perhaps a diminutive of tendron (cartilage), from (deprecated template usage) [etyl] Old French tendre (soft) (see tender (adj.)), or else from (deprecated template usage) [etyl] Latin tendere (to stretch, extend) (see tender (v.)).
