Eng., from] Latin, & it's -there- the misidentifying happened. or if we do want to categorize descendants of other languages' ghost words - unlike w. e.g. borrowings, but as might make more sense if we rename/split this cat. into e.g. 'words created in error' (&~'words created as fakes/hoaxes/jokes', but w. some better name) - let's discuss and do that more broadly, warine, ajuga, etc... undo Tag: Manual revert

But even if not, because if the etymology is unknown the reason is because there was some arbitrary reading or spelling. If we take all the borrowings of this word though quite some languages end up with +1 ghost word. undo Tag: Reverted
