Adding translations
[edit]Hi,
Please try adding translations using the assisted method with the language code grc
for Ancient Greek, rather than adding them manually by editing the page. The page history will show who added which translation and into what language and you won't have to write edit summaries like Added Ancient Greek translation of this word. or similar. --Anatoli T. (обсудить/вклад) 06:33, 3 May 2018 (UTC)
- I noticed that you still aren't adding translations with the assisted method. Not only is it easier for you, it also can help avoid typos like the one you made here. —Μετάknowledgediscuss/deeds 21:32, 24 December 2018 (UTC)
- Again, if you add translations with the assisted method, you won't make mistakes like removing the trans-mid line, which you did here. —Μετάknowledgediscuss/deeds 17:13, 23 March 2019 (UTC)
great job
[edit]What a great job you are doing, @Rudi Laschenkohl! Thank you, it is very helpful. sarri.greek (talk) 21:02, 4 August 2018 (UTC)
- @Rudi Laschenkohl I agree, lots of good stuff here. But please heed Anatoli's messages on this page: your edits slightly deviate from the established format. Ancient Greek is simply written as "Ancient" in translation tables, as it is already nested below the "Greek" translation. — Mnemosientje (t · c) 17:02, 18 September 2018 (UTC)
Nested Ancient Greek translations
[edit]Hi,
Thanks for your Ancient Greek contributions, however re: diff - it's a waste of time.
- Your edit can be reverted, since it's not the agreed format.
- New translations added via the translation adder will still use the same format. The tool code is here: MediaWiki:Gadget-TranslationAdder.js. Not 100% what module is responsible for nesting.
- If you want to change the existing format, this needs to be coordinated, e.g. at WT:GP you can ask for nested Ancient Greek translations to use the full word "Ancient Greek", rather than just "Ancient" (which is obvious, since it's nested under "Greek".) --Anatoli T. (обсудить/вклад) 06:16, 18 September 2018 (UTC)
"Corrected format of the Ancient Greek entry."
[edit]There was nothing wrong with them before, actually. Your edits didn't do anything, the sc=
parameter is unnecessary for Ancient Greek. —Rua (mew) 00:01, 17 December 2018 (UTC)
Re: "Added Egyptian Arabic translation of this word"
[edit]Hi,
Thanks for your edits.
Please don't add "|sc=Arab" to your translations or other "|sc=" parameters.
Like with other translations, you can add new translations for any language or dialect using the translation-adder tool. Everybody can see who did it and what, so the edit summary is not necessary. --Anatoli T. (обсудить/вклад) 02:05, 2 July 2019 (UTC)

Hi,
The correct translations into Russian are at old fart#Translations.
бздёнок (bzdjónok) is rather a "young or a little fart" (not "old fart") or something like "a little dirty brat" - a very young or short but disgusting person.
Since you're adding translations manually with a mandatory edit summary, you haven't used the right template, also.
бздёнок (bzdjónok) doesn't exist in the Russian Wiktionary, so it should be бздёнок m (bzdjónok), not бздёнок (ru) m (bzdjónok), using the template {{t}}
, not {{t+}}
. The former template doesn't link to the other Wiktionary.
Thanks for your contributions, otherwise. --Anatoli T. (обсудить/вклад) 02:18, 18 May 2020 (UTC)
Hi, I've switched all the links to translation subpages to use {{see translation subpage}}
. This is because {{trans-see}}
is meant for linking to other entries that contain translations for a particular sense of a word. It is not appropriate for linking to a translation subpage, which contains translations for all senses. If you don't like the style of {{see translation subpage}}
, please propose changes, but please don't switch to {{trans-see}}
with "section link" as parameter 1 because it's not appropriate. — Eru·tuon 04:13, 6 September 2020 (UTC)
Word of the Day
[edit]Hey, on the main page the word of the day in english has more than 20 days of words. I was wondering how to do that so I can apply to another wiki because I can't be there to apply each and everyday a word. Alvin kipchumba (talk) 08:03, 17 October 2020 (UTC)
Rapa Nui
[edit]Hi, since you've decided to help out with Rapa Nui, a note of warning: It's important to check the spelling, and to provide sources if possible. Make note of WT:ARAP. Common unorthographic spellings are: Using <ng> for <ŋ>, omitting macrons, omitting the glottal stop. For the rest, good work! Happy editing! Thadh (talk) 08:35, 26 August 2021 (UTC)
The text at the top of the translation table, where you put "one who vexes", is supposed to refer to one of the definitions above. Your original edit, where you put Thuja occidentalis, was correct.__Gamren (talk) 16:58, 22 October 2023 (UTC)
