Hindi लड़का

Inherited from Proto-New Indo-Aryan *लडिक्क (laḍikka). Related to the lexicographically-attested Sanskrit लाडिक (lāḍika, “boy, servant”), लट्व (laṭva, “dancing boy”) लट (laṭa, “fool”), and thus may ultimately come from लट् (laṭ, “to act like a child”) + Middle Indo-Aryan -𑀓𑁆𑀓- (-kka-). Cognate to Awadhi लरिका (larikā), Bhojpuri लईका (laīkā), Bengali লেড়কা (leṛoka).
