[edit]From Proto-Indo-Iranian *wíćwas, from Proto-Indo-European *(h₁)wiḱ-wo-s. Cognate with Avestan 𐬬𐬍𐬯𐬞𐬀 (vīspa), Old Persian 𐎻𐎿 (vi-s /visa/), Proto-Slavic *vьśь (“all”).
