From Angkorian Old Khmer citta, cita (mind; spirit; heart; feeling; will; thought; opinion; aim; intention; wish), from Sanskrit चित्त (citta, observed, perceived; considered, reflected or mediated upon; heart (considered as the seat of intellect), mind; etc.) or Pali citta (heart (psychologically); mind); compare Modern Khmer ចិត្ត (cət). Cognate with Lao ຈິດ (chit), ᦈᦲᧆ (ṫsiid).
