Etymology

From Sanskrit अभिषेक (abhiṣeka, consecration by watering; water used in such consecration; etc, literally over-sprinkling), from अभि (abhi, over; upon; etc) + षेक (ṣeka, sprinkling; pouring; dropping; etc); perhaps via Lua error in Module:parameters at line 239: Parameter 2 should be a valid language, etymology language or family code; the value "mkh-okm" is not valid. See WT:LOL, WT:LOL/E and WT:LOF., Lua error in Module:parameters at line 239: Parameter 1 should be a valid language or etymology language code; the value "mkh-okm" is not valid. See WT:LOL and WT:LOL/E.; equivalent to Thai อภิ (à-pí) +‎ เษก (sèek). Cognate with Modern Khmer អភិសេក (ʼaʼphisaek); Lao ອະພິເສກ (ʼa phi sēk).
