Etymology 1[edit]

From Sanskrit कोश (kośa, container; case; pocket); perhaps via Pre-Angkorian Old Khmer kośa (urn, vase; goblet, chalice; coffer, casket, chest). Compare Old Khmer koṣa, koṣaṇa, kosa; and compare Pali koṭṭha (closet; cabinet), from which Modern Khmer កោដ្ឋ (kaot, royal funerary urn) was derived.

Noun[edit]

โกศ (gòot) (classifier ใบ or ลูก)

  1. (พระ~, พระบรม~) funerary urn.
  2. (archaic) Synonym of ผอบ (pà-òp)

Etymology 2[edit]

From Sanskrit कोश (kośa, treasury). Compare Pali kosa (treasury), from which Old Khmer kossā (store; storehouse; treasury; granary; etc) was derived; and compare Modern Khmer កោដ្ឋ (kaot, storehouse; grange; warehouse).

Noun[edit]

โกศ (gòot) (classifier หลัง)

  1. (elegant, archaic) treasury, treasure house; store, storehouse, warehouse; repository.
Derived terms[edit]
