Etymology

From Pali lokantara (literally “interworld; another world”), from loka (“world”) + antara (“difference; gap; in between; space; etc”), equivalent to Thai โลก (lôok) +‎ อันตร. Compare Sanskrit लोकान्तर (lokāntara). Cognate with Khmer លោកន្តរ (lookntɑɑ).
